Muzikayise (Muzi) Blessing Shange is a qualified and registered Engineering Land Surveyor, an Environmentalist, Project Manager, Geographic Information System professional with in-depth knowledge and experience in Engineering and Infrastructure Development environment within the Energy, Water & Government sectors.
He has led the development of major capital projects that have received international recognition and awards. A strategic thinker and astute leader, he is a past President and International Director of the South African Rights of Way Association. He has strong ethics and has led South Africa, in his position as Chief Operating Officer of the Department of Energy, in areas of business strategy, risk management, governance and compliance of all energy State-Owned Enterprises i.e CEF, NERSA, NECSA, NRWDI, SANEDI, NNR.
Muzi is the co-founder and a Managing Director at Accruetech Energy (Pty) Ltd. Muzi spent 10 years at Eskom Holdings as Chief Business Analyst where he was involved in the Eskom Group Capital Expansion Programme. He was mainly responsible for the asset creation value chain i.e. Feasibility, Design, Environmental and profile Engineering, Finance, Land & Rights, Permitting and Construction support. He also worked for the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry as Director: Spatial & Land Information Management where he was involved in hydro-electric schemes development, national water-use management, dam deflections & deformation, hydrographic surveys and remote sensing. He led the team that was responsible for setting up control engineering and monitoring of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project and Usuthu River Tripartite project in Mozambique and Lesotho. His commitment and passion has seen him win numerous awards that include the prestigious Top 10 International Project of the year in the USA.
He belongs to a number of professional institutions that include the IoDSA, PLATO, SARWA, IRWA and SAPI. He is a respected thought-leader around the world and has made presentations on many platforms that include the G20 Energy Ministerial Meetings Energy Technologies and Efficiency Options, IRWA’s 59th, 60th and 61st Educational Conferences in the USA. He was nominated to represent IRWA in the inaugural meeting for the launch of IRWA Chapter 84 Nigeria. Muzi holds a Masters Degree in Environment and Development (Distinction) a is currently pursuing his MBA at the University of Pretoria – Gordon Institute of Business Science.
